This is Megan Abbott's 2nd novel. I've found her novels take a little "getting into" but I usually find rewarding and worth the extra effort. I'm also a big fan of David Lynch movies and I'm always trying to find books that have that same vibe, and I find that in Megan Abbott's books. There is that edginess and disparity that I think you have to have experienced personally to appreciate, so I guess these books are kind of an "acquired taste" and may not be for everybody!
