Prior to reading this book, my only exposure to the character "The Saint" was the from the 1997 Val Kilmer film. Although this book became the basis for over 100 later adventures, the author himself was not particular found of this 1st novel according to his own forward in the edition that I read. I personally only found this story to be mildly entertaining, and by the end of the book found it to be quite tedious. Although this may be the book created a memorable character and launched a series, I'll probably do a little bit more research before I revisit this author.
