Fast One by Paul Cain


Originally written in 1931-1932 as a series of short stories for Black Mask magazine, Fast One became the basis for Paul Cain's one and only full-length novel. (A collection of short stories Seven Slayers also exists.)

I've done a little research into speed-reading, which is probably evident from the number of books I read. Some books lend themselves to this approach, and Fast One is a book I was able to thoroughly enjoy and follow by flipping through the pages as fast as my brain could register what was going on. In fact, I'm guessing this is probably the preferred way to read this book. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
