Ian Fleming - Moonraker (1955)

"THE TWO thirty-eights roared simultaneously."

The third Bond novel starts out with a bang, or so it seems at first, but in actually it's Monday and just another day in the office for James and time for target practice. As Monday progresses, James finds himself participating in a friendly, or maybe no so friendly game of cards. Of course, this wouldn't be a James Bond novel if the rest of the week didn't turn out some excitement, and of course, this novel delivers the goods.

I find it interesting, due to the fact that I haven't seen most of the movies that these books are based on- that I am more familiar with the parodies of these scenes from the Austin Power's series that I think of when I read these books. And it's a credit to Mike Meyers that his films have been so enjoyable even for those not familiar with the material he has spoofed. I expect that one day I will eventually work my way through all the early Bond films, but I'll wait until I make my way through the novels first....

Voodoo
Sharks
Barracuda
Pirate Treasure
and of course,
Octopuses

in Harlem and in Jamaica

What more could you want?

IAN FLEMING - CASINO ROYALE

Finally got around to reading this - my only regret is I wish I hadn't seen the movie first. I haven't seen the new one yet. Looking more forward to the next book then the new movie but I hope I am pleasantly surprised when I get around to seeing the new movie. Low expectations can sometimes do that.....
