What's on Tap? Grandville/Kalamazoo edition

Angie went to Kalamazoo this weekend to check Brian Vander Ark at Charlie Foster's (Seafood Restaurant.) They were doing dinner packages, but I had a couple of gift cards left from Christmas, so we decided to stop at Carabba's in Grandville on the way down instead. (After I seeing and smelling the dishes at Charlie's Fosters, I wish we would have opted for the dinner package - Angie & I are planning a return trip for dinner sometime!)

Carabba's sole local brew was Fonder's Pale Ale.
Charlie Foster's had a better selection: Kalamazoo's own Winter White & Two-Hearted, as well as New Holland's Poet & Arcadia I.P.A!

Brownbag Monday

Black Tulip - Trippel Ale

description from http://newhollandbrew.com:

Mysterious, alluring and seductive, yet tantalizingly elusive; these are the storied characteristics of the Black Tulip.

Golden in color, Black Tulip Trippel is a delightful beer with a slightly sweet body. Its ester-laden character reveals an enigmatic dance between Belgian ale yeast and Michigan beet sugar, conjuring hints of bananas and rock candy. Its inviting flavor is complemented by a pleasing dry finish.

19.6° Plato, Alc. 9% by Vol.
Available in:
Pub Draught • 22 oz • Growler • Half Barrel • Sixth Barrel

PUT THIS IN YOUR BROWNBAG!

Pilgrim's Dole - Wheat Wine

Pilgrim’s Dole is a barleywine-style ale made with fifty percent wheat malt, or what we at New Holland call a wheatwine. Pilgrim’s Dole blends warming and slightly sweet flavors with a unique caramelized character. It would be an excellent accent to nutty dishes, fruit crisps or creme brulee.

During the 14th century, the term “Pilgrim’s Dole” described the rations of bread and ale given to nourish wayfarers on their holy pilgrimage. At New Holland, Pilgrim’s Dole is brewed for the cultural explorer of today. It is a rewarding discovery on the road to enlightenment.

Whether in a snifter or from your rucksack, Pilgrim’s Dole will enhance any experience and is certain to incite wanderlust and to fuel adventure.
